If there’s one thing Greg Halpen knows about himself, is that singing is his true life source; where he truly connects with his heart. Where he finds his stillness. It has taken him awhile to figure that out, but at the ripe age of 40, he is finally risking in all the right ways.
Risk = Growth. Greg is all about growth.
Greg grew up in Onedia, a factory town in Upstate NY. A place where as a kid, he tumbled about with rocks in the pockets of his torn jeans and always knew where trouble was hiding. Music was always his reprieve. As a kid he would skip to the store on broken trails singing whatever tune popped into his young head.
His plan? To bring back through singing and story telling, the innocence he once experienced as that rough and tumble kid. The innocence we all think we lose when we grow up and put on our grown-up pants.
He gratefully admits that his singing talents are a hereditary gift from his mom. Her beautiful crooner voice inspires him every day. At 72 she is still sounds amazing! He feels as though he is carrying on a legacy and a dream that she never got to fulfill.
Greg began studying musical theater and voice at the age of 17, when he was enrolled for two summers in a row at Musical Theater North theater training hosted at The Crane School of Music at Potsdam State College. At the age of 20 he began studying at the American Musical and Dramatic Academy, and eventually ended up in the care of prestigious theater greats such as, Carol Fox Prescott, Victoria Clark, Betty Buckley and Edward Strauss. From their insights, his ideas about story ‘telling started to take shape.’ He also studied at The American Conservatory Theater in San Francisco.
Although he loves playing a character, he's truly loving the next phase of his life , which is concentrating on a fulfilling solo career.
